The carrion crow is a passerine bird of the family Corvidae, native to western Europe and the eastern Palearctic. Along with the hooded crow, the carrion crow occupies a similar ecological niche in Eurasia to the American crow in North America. The two species look very similar to one another, but can be differentiated by size, as the carrion crow is larger and of a stockier build compared to the American crow. Source

Movement and weather

Each season it is first heard regularly where daytime highs are around 21°C (typically 16 to 27°C, from 15 areas). That range is wide, so temperature alone does not explain when it turns up.

Arrival dates

The week it was first heard regularly in each region, after at least six weeks away. Dates differ from south to north, so a region has a range.
