The Pacific wren is a very small North American bird and a member of the mainly New World wren family Troglodytidae. The species was formerly lumped together with either the winter wren of eastern North America alone, or also with the Eurasian wren of Eurasia, then under the merged name of northern wren with the scientific name T. troglodytes having priority. Movement and weather

Each season it is first heard regularly where daytime highs are around 17°C (typically 3 to 21°C, from 8 areas). That range is wide, so temperature alone does not explain when it turns up.

Arrival dates

The week it was first heard regularly in each region, after at least six weeks away. Dates differ from south to north, so a region has a range.
